据报道，俄国防部消息称，乌克兰方面在当地时间18日凌晨4时许发动了此次袭击，攻击目标为莫斯科。消息指出，这架无人机被防空武器发现后，改变了飞行路线，坠落在莫斯科市区的一座非住宅建筑上。
莫斯科市长索比亚宁表示，“无人机的残骸落在世博中心区域，并没有对建筑造成重大破坏”，他表示，救援人员很快抵达现场，目前尚无人员伤亡的消息。
报道援引俄塔社的消息称，世博中心展馆的一堵墙部分倒塌，坍塌面积约为30平方米。
路透社报道称，爆炸发生后，一名现场目击者表示听到了“巨大爆炸声”，整个商业中心几乎都能听到爆炸。据介绍，世博中心是一个用于举办大型展览的大型空间，距离克里姆林宫不到5公里。
此外，莫斯科伏努科沃机场附近的空域被临时关闭，部分航班延误。
