针对此事，8月22日晚，澎湃新闻（www.thepaper.cn）从梅州市公安局工作人员了解到，8月14日14时30分许，五华县华阳镇村民古某明（男，73岁）在家中被古某威（男，37岁）打伤，后及时送医院治疗。古某威眼角受伤。目前，古某明正在医院治疗。
事发后，警方第一时间介入调查，于16日对古某威予以行政拘留处罚。21日，梅州五华警方根据伤情鉴定结论，已依法对犯罪嫌疑人古某威采取刑事拘留强制措施。目前，案件正在进一步侦办中。
另据介绍，8月20日9时许，古某良（古某明孙子）在华阳镇民心街附近与父母边走路边对话过程中，行至民心桥时突然情绪失控，跳入河中失踪。公安机关接警后，会同相关救援力量迅速组织搜救。因事发地水况复杂，当日22时许，古某良被打捞上岸，经医务人员现场确认死亡。
