战国时期人们如何计数？出土简牍如何修复释读？记者日前从湖北省文化和旅游厅了解到，湖北荆州秦家咀墓地出土的乘法口诀实物——楚简《九九术》，较此前所知最早的湖南里耶秦简乘法口诀《九九表》，时间要早约一个世纪。
秦家咀墓地是东周时期楚国都城近郊的一处邦墓地。其中，M1093墓葬为战国中期的楚墓，出土大量竹简，是目前出土战国楚简数量、文字最多的墓葬。
“M1093墓葬中发现的乘法口诀这支简，证明在楚国已有乘法口诀的运用。”秦家咀墓地考古项目负责人、荆州博物馆副馆长杨开勇说。
